Rare Architecture, who oversaw the redevelopment, were keen to preserve the building’s original features like the glass domed entrance hall and sculptures by Henry Poole, adding cutting-edge furnishings from the likes of Viabizzuno and Parisian designer Tzuri Gueta. Viajante restaurant, headed by Portuguese chef Nuno Mendes, serves global fusion cuisine in a appropriately fashion-forward space; there’s even a neat ‘finishing kitchen’ where diners can watch Mendes put his final flourish to each dish, oversized tweezers in hand.
